There are several different cities in Hinds County, Mississippi. However, the cities of Jackson and Raymond are the county seats of Hinds County. Ballard Law is located in downtown Jackson. The City of Jackson is the capitol city of Mississippi, and the largest city in the state. The population of Jackson is over 170,000. The city sits on the Pearl River, and was named after former United States President Andrew Jackson. Jackson is home to Mississippi College School of Law which is one Mississippi’s two accredited law schools.
The City of Raymond is located in the central portion of Hinds County, and has a population of nearly 2000 people. The City of Clinton is also located in Hinds County, and is home to the main campus of Mississippi College. Clinton is the tenth largest city in the state with a population of over 25,000.
Hinds County is also home to the City of Byram. As of the 2000 census, Byram had a population of over 7000 people. Byram is located in the southeastern portion of Hinds County. The Town of Terry is also located in the southeastern portion of Hinds County along Interstate 55. Terry has a population of approximately 1,000 people.
